Final Destiny
a reply
We will discuss the eighth question in Questions of
Truth. This one concerns the world to
come
and life after death.
Some passages to note:
"He pointed them to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and
Jacob and commented, “‘He is not God of
the dead, but of the living.’” The point is a powerful one.
If the patriarchs mattered to God once,
as they certainly did, then they must matter to the faithful
God forever."
"The carrier of continuity between life in this world
and life in the world to come has usually
been seen to be the human soul. In response to question 2,
we rejected the idea of the soul as a
detachable spiritual component. If we accept that we are
psychosomatic unities, the idea of the
soul will have to be reconceptualized".
"Thus the ultimate Christian hope is resurrection,
God’s great eschatological act of the
reimbodiment of information-bearing patterns in the
environment of the new creation."
"There is old creation, existing at some distance from
the veiled presence of its Creator,
necessary if finite creatures are to be able to make a truly
free response without being
overwhelmed by the Infinite. This is the world in which
creatures are allowed to make
themselves, and the will evolutionary process necessarily
involves the presence of death as one
generation has to give way to the new life of the next.
God’s final intention, however, is the new
creation, drawn freely into such close connection with its
Creator that its “matter,” suffused with
the direct presence of a God no longer veiled, will permit
the everlasting processes of eternal
life."
Discussion points:
l. Please comment on your idea of the soul. What might it be, does it exist, do we only
survive
as soul?
2. Are mind, soul, body separate entities or are we one
unity of all?
3. How do you envision the future state?
Lloyd Bradbury's of the soul.
In the Bible Genesis 13 states that God breathed the air of
life into man. Air has always been a mystery especially to the ancients. Even
now we consider it the vital substance of life. The belief that air is the sole
was believed even during the Renaissance. Air is one of these mysteries that
the common man can relate to he can see it as it blows through the trees like a
breeze. It is unseen and mystic to most people. We can relate that air contains
the energy needed by life.
One
could say that the energy of life is the sole. Everything on this Earth has
lights energy. This I believe is created by God. Everything that lives as the
energy called soul. The spirit of the soul is then another matter. The spirit
is what you do with the soul. People can be nonreligious and have a good soul
and do good deeds. But sharing your soul with God and the Holy Spirit is how
you display your faith. If you have the spirit of the Holy Ghost in your soul
you believe in Christ. If you listen and obey God's words and Jesus is example
you are closer to God and can have someone to share communications that are
necessary for a religious life. This life of the soul having God's Spirit creates
faith hope and charity that our values to live by. The values of the Christian
and does it communicate with God create a complete life. This complete life
whether short or long reaches and tries to follow God's laws. These laws
provide structure and a reason for living and an objective that is reached for.
If we
don't know the Holy Spirit, the father son and the Holy Ghost we will not know
God and therefore will not be with God in heaven. As we reach for heaven we are
trying to understand the values that are taught by Jesus Christ. Whether we go
to heaven or not or even believe in heaven it motivates us to have an objective
and to try to communicate with God.
The body mind and soul on earth
are a unit of the bio machine. This machine would be just that if we did not
have an objective. This objective can be for good or evil. By believing in God
and following him we try to reach for the goodness of man.
